The Paremata Boating Club is located on the Porirua Harbour, 18kms north of Wellington. It is predominantly a sailing club, catering for all ages and most classes of yachts, from the small Optimist, through P Class, Starling, Laser, Sunburst, Sailboards and Z Class.
Learn to sail programmes for juniors and adults are conducted, and a feature of the yearly programme is the Easter Regatta for all classes, having been held at the Club for over 70 years.
The course is renowned nationwide for its tricky tidal and wind conditions, and has been a training ground for many well-known sailors, including such names as Russell Coutts, David Barnes and Murray Jones, all of whom spent considerable time as juniors sailing at the club.
